"It's A Love-A-Fair"

Well, it's been about ten days or so since my last post...not much has been goin' on lately until this weekend. My Christopher came down for the weekend and he and I went to the North Carolina State Fair on Friday and we had a BLAST! It was such a beautiful day, too.
The crowds got larger by the hour - it was CRAZY!
I will say the BEST thing about the Fair would have to be the FOOD!!!!!
If there's one thing we Southerners love, it's DEEP FRIED GOODNESS!!!
Before the crowds got real wild, Chris and I got a bite to eat - I went for Durham, NC's famous KING'S HOT DOGS and Chris got popcorn chicken with hot sauce :)
Mmmmm, so dang good!

When we first got to the fair, we took our time browsing and looking around to see the attractions. I had been here before of course, but to Christopher this is all new...sort of LOL! He had been to a Fair before, but nothing like this. Of course the first thing we noticed was the smell of all the good food. One of the attractions I love was the petting zoo but for some reason they didn't have that this year :( however, there were lots of other animals we got to see.
Momma cow and her baby

This lil donkey was just too cute! He kinda looks like a stuffed animal ^.^

Momma pig and her three little piglet's - SO CUTE!
It's been a long day for the three little pigs ;)

Cute little chicks and ducklings

Check it out! Look at that one goat on top of the haystack! He thinks he's "King of the World!" LOL!

THE MILKING BOOTH! LOL!

And here is where we have a massive display of oversized produce LOL! See the ribbons? These people put their home-grown products on display and judges come by and grade them based on their size and structure - meaning no damages whatsoever! Impressive, huh?

After walking around so much and seeing all the other animals, Chris and I got ourselves a funnel cake. We said that no matter what we MUST get a funnel cake LOL! We found a booth that had funnel cakes for a decent price (keep in mind, things are absolutely NOT cheap at this place). We found a bench and sat down to eat; however, the wind was definitely kicking it that day. We tried our best to not make a mess but the wind prevented us from doing so. I had my back facing the wind but Chris did not. So...needless to say, Christopher was covered with powdered sugar from the funnel cake after a big gust of wind! He got it all over his face, his shirt, and even his pants! It was too funny. At least we had napkins to wipe it off. After cleaning up and finishing our funnel cake, we walked around some more. There were some real nice shops and galleries at the Fair Grounds and one in particular I know a certain someone would just absolutely LOVE! We went into a gallery that had a display of scrapbook pages! These pages were competing against others and I saw so many beautiful ones that looked almost like portraits. There were quite a few that received blue ribbons. It was just so neat to see all these different creations. I was quite inspired ;) After the gallery we saw this on display:
OH! MY! GOODNESS!
  It's a chocolate-lover's heaven!

The smell of warm, fresh fudge completely engulfed the place. It was quite glorious :)
